Don Chisciotte: the designer handle that creates a new classic
A design handle that defines identity, ergonomics and formal coherence in bathroom brassware
Over time, only a few objects manage to transcend trends. Not because they remain unchanged, but because they evolve while preserving their identity. They are recognizable forms, familiar gestures, presences that move through different eras, each time finding a new balance with the present. In design, a classic is born this way: from the ability to endure, to adapt, and to remain relevant.
Designed by Bellucci Mazzoni Progetti, Don Chisciotte is rooted in this vision. A collection that draws inspiration from traditional tapware and reinterprets it through a contemporary lens, transforming the everyday gesture of water into a distinctive identity. The result is a formal language that does not chase trends, but instead builds lasting value over time.
Why the Handle Is a Key Element in Tapware Design
At the heart of the project is the handle. A simple, functional, universal element that, in Don Chisciotte, becomes a narrative gesture. Its shape, inspired by the blades of windmills, introduces a discreet yet powerful symbolic dimension. It is a cultured reference, never literal, evoking the imagery of the wandering knight and translating its spirit into a concrete, precise, everyday action. The handle thus becomes both the formal signature and the key element of recognizability for the collection.
This vision also includes the decision to introduce single-lever versions in configurations typically associated with traditional tapware. A solution that enhances ergonomics and ease of use, without sacrificing the elegance of detail or the recognizability of the design.
This expressive strength does not exist in isolation, but is part of a measured aesthetic made up of balanced proportions and carefully controlled details. Surfaces are clean, geometries are sharp, and the dialogue with architecture is quiet yet constant. Don Chisciotte interprets tradition without nostalgia, choosing the path of design evolution. It is an aesthetic that transcends time because it is born from a conscious balance between memory and contemporaneity.
How Aesthetics and Technical Innovation Create Long-Lasting Tapware
Made entirely of brass, the collection expresses a material quality that supports and enhances the formal research. The coherence of the project naturally extends into its technical quality. Every solution is designed to offer a precise and durable user experience, where technology supports the form without ever overpowering it.
Water-saving aerators, with a flow rate of less than 6 liters per minute, ensure controlled flow and tangible water savings without compromising the experience. The use of 90° ceramic valves guarantees precision and long-term reliability, while the recessed single-lever versions adopt a compact and high-performance Ø35 mm cartridge. In wall-mounted basin models, the option to choose between two spout projections – 19 and 23 cm – allows for precise design adaptability.
Within this balance between aesthetics and function, innovation becomes an integral part of the collection’s language. It is never ostentatious, but works beneath the surface, making the gesture smoother and more precise. It is technology that does not alter the object’s appearance, but strengthens its ability to stand the test of time.
A Complete Collection for the Contemporary Bathroom
Don Chisciotte is conceived as a complete system for the bathroom environment. The range includes wall-mounted and countertop basin solutions, available in both traditional and single-lever versions, single-hole mixers with swivel spout, and three-hole configurations with high spout. The collection is completed by bidet mixers, available in single-hole and three-hole versions, recessed single-lever bathtub solutions, shut-off kits, and a modular shower system that allows for customized compositions with one or more outlets, with single or separate plates, precisely meeting the needs of each project.
The collection is available in eleven finishes, ranging from classic chrome to more tactile and sophisticated options such as matte black, antique rose gold, antique copper, satin bronze, and brushed black chrome. A palette designed to dialogue with different styles, from contemporary to timeless, further enhancing the versatility of the series and offering designers, showrooms, and contract professionals an expressive tool capable of adapting to diverse contexts while maintaining a strong identity.
Within this comprehensive vision, Don Chisciotte fully expresses Frattini’s approach to design: an approach that combines design culture, attention to detail, and deep roots in Made in Italy craftsmanship. A collection that does not merely interpret the present, but builds a lasting dialogue with time.
Don Chisciotte is, in every sense, a new classic by Frattini.
